ALL ABOUT BAPTISM

 

Meaning of Baptism 

1. Baptism does not mean Regeneration or forgiveness of sin.

2. Baptism states the fact of an event that has already transpired beforehand.

3. Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward reality- a genuine conversion.

4. Baptism is obedience to the command of Christ, following Christ’s example,

fulfilling all righteousness, separation by death from sin, identification with

Christ in His death, burial and resurrection, and association with Christ’s

BODY (the church).

 

Who may be baptized?

1. Those who have heard the gospel and Believed

2. Those whose eyes wereOpened.

3. Those who have Repented

4. Those who bring forth fruit worthy of Repentance

5. Those who have Received the Holy Spirit.

6. Those who have been Taught  the Word of God

7. Those who have died, and who now live a New spiritual life in Christ.

 

How should one be baptized?

1. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit OR In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ or in the name of the Lord.

2. Substance used is water.

3. Must be performed by one or more Representatives of the church.

4. Generally performed in a river, sometimes in a building or under conditions not specified.

5. The mode of baptism is by immersion (to dip Under).

 

When should one be baptized?

When one is old enough to Understandand meet the conditions stated in B.

Concluding Facts concerning baptism

1. In baptism, we take a public Stand against the devil and win with God and righteousness.

2. Baptism is a Challenge to the power of darkness. We are living for the Lord Jesus.

3. It is an act of Faith, calling on the grace of God for strength toOVERCOME.

4. It is a command.  It is not Optional.

It is for us to Obey and submit to.

5. If Jesus needed to be baptized to fulfill all righteousness, we surely need to be also.
